Mammoth Mountain Ski Area lives up to its name with 3 full-service slopeside lodges connected by a free shuttle system. Mammoth by the numbers: 3,100 vertical feet, 3,500 skiable acres, top elevation: 11,053 feet, 150 named trails, 29 lifts (10 express quads), 300 days of sunshine per year, winter season: approx. November to June, 400 inches of snow per year! From early November through May, the skiing is unsurpassed.

Within a short drive from Mammoth Lakes you can experience a wide variety of natural and historic points of interest, such as Hot Creek Springs, Yosemite National Park, Devil’s Postpile national Monument, Rainbow Falls, Bodie Mining Town, Mono Lake

National Scenic Area and the stunning beauty of the Sierra Nevada mountains.  Many special events and recreational opportunities provide endless enjoyment and fun all year.  Be sure to plan for:

With Spring, comes a quiet respite from the frenetic winter activity. As the snow melts, enthusiasm heightens, awaiting the arrival of the many backpackers, fishermen, hikers and nature lovers.

Summer in Mammoth must be discovered first hand.  Meandering streams, with delicate Alpine flowers, invite leisurely strolls.  Night swimming at Hot Creek, nature’s own Jacuzzi, provides backpackers with soothing relief from aching muscles.  Day trips to the ghost town of Bodie and Devil’s Postpile are especially unique.  Camp fires, star gazing, and just relaxing in the clean mountain air provide welcome relief from city life.

Peace returns to Mammoth again in the Fall.  Because the lure of outside activities is somewhat diminished, you will want to take some time however, to see the changing of leaves, walk in the crisp, cool air, and enjoy the sounds of nature announcing the return of winter.
